Dear Moxe community,
Happy New Year! While I’m not big on resolutions, as 2025 begins, I wanted to share some reflections on what I see as a year with big promise for clinical data.
Enthusiasm for the more effective use of clinical data–and a broader understanding of the transformative potential of that data in healthcare–continues to grow. Despite a lot of unknowns, including how the data can fully be used, what regulations are going to require, and what the best format for data sharing is, there has been decided progress across the market.
Payers are getting better at ingesting clinical data and deploying it for things beyond traditional use cases. Providers are increasingly recognizing that the demand for clinical data isn’t going to stop and are looking for the most secure, compliant, and streamlined way to share the required data.
Health IT vendors have made great leaps in extracting and utilizing clinical data, although we all have different philosophical approaches and do it differently.
In short, I think it’s safe to say that 2025 will be a big year for healthcare interoperability. Of course, there’s still a tremendous amount of work to be done. I’m excited to see the progress that the industry will make in the new year, and I know that Moxe can meaningfully contribute to that progress.
Since our founding, we’ve been a technology company staffed by healthcare experts. Our approach to solving problems has always been: How do we leverage tech, not for tech’s sake, but from a healthcare lens? How do we understand what data needs to be used for, and use technology to deliver the highest quality, most efficient data, securely and cost effectively? As we look to the future and celebrate the progress that’s been made in the industry, our approach to problem solving remains the same.
In order for a new category of data in an industry to be “unlocked,” there are a number of hurdles to overcome. First, data needs to be consistently and effectively obtained—no small task in a fragmented industry like healthcare. Once data is accessed, the focus shifts to cleansing the data—making it fit for purpose—and then finally to ensuring it’s effectively deployed in a meaningful way across end user organizations. Our focus this year should align with the industry’s focus: We’re at a point where data has been unlocked, and now we’re determining how to best adjust and deploy it. The fact that data is more accessible is something to celebrate. Just because data is more readily available, however, doesn’t mean the problem is solved.
So, where do we go from here? As one of the only vendors with both payer and provider customers, we intimately understand the challenges and expectations that both sides face. As a neutral party, we can help effectively broker relationships between payers and providers so both sides feel like they’re winning.
When we think about how we want to work with payers this year, we commit to meet them wherever they are in their data ingestion journey and work with them to ensure they can effectively leverage data for as many use cases as possible. We want to improve the timeliness of data and broaden the aperture to include additional data that can further help them meet their business objectives.
When we think about how we want to work with providers this year, we commit to leverage both technology and our outstanding services team to make the exchange of clinical data as seamless as possible. In addition to making exchange easy, we want to make clinical data exchange the most secure, efficient, and transparent it can be. We want providers to feel confident in knowing where data is coming from, what it is being used for, and where it is going. Providing transparency around the flow of clinical data is critical to building provider confidence and fostering trust between providers and payers.
When we think about where we can make the biggest contributions this year, we see an opportunity for growth in the ROI space. As my colleague Katie recently shared, our tech-first solution, combined with our top-of-their-field ROI experts, can help transform the way ROI is done. Our customers are increasingly asking us to help them automate ROI, and we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with them to deliver solutions that allow them to allocate their resources where they’re most needed. If we automate as much as possible and make it as secure and transparent as possible, both sides win: providers efficiently share data and payers get the highest quality clinical data.
We’ve got a unique, mission-driven team that’s committed to solving a very sticky problem.
I’m grateful for each of our team members who continue to show up with their best ideas, commitment to customer service, and grit to simply figure things out (even when things are far from simple). I’m grateful for their sincere desire to effect positive change.
As I reflect on the year ahead and our commitments to our customers, I also want to share my commitment to our team: I want to make Moxe a great place to work. I want to make it a place that affords growth opportunities and one where our team members see how their work matters not just to Moxe, but to the greater healthcare ecosystem.
So, in a month where resolutions get made and broken quickly, cheers to the staying power of interoperability’s progress in the new year. Cheers to our team and yours for the progress we’ll make in 2025. Please reach out if you’d like to chat about how we might partner with you.
Sincerely,
Mike Coyne
