Our VP of Product Chelsea Arthur King, DrPH recently co-led a retreat for our product and engineering leadership teams to drive deeper alignment and make important decisions about roadmap prioritization.
Not only did product and engineering decide what to prioritize–ensuring what gets built maps directly to meaningful customer outcomes–they also aligned on operating principals to accelerate fruitful collaboration.
We talked with Chelsea about some of the key takeaways from the retreat, what she’s learned during her first six months at Moxe, and what roadmap items she’s most excited to share with our payer and provider customers.
First impressions
With a PhD in public health that focuses on policy and epidemiology, and significant experience working with health plans, CMS, and in the patient engagement space, Chelsea understands the critical role that data plays in the healthcare delivery continuum. In her first six months at Moxe, she says she’s been struck at how open and eager the engineering and product teams are to approach things differently when needed.“People are open to pivoting. They’re asking the right questions and want to accelerate the role that Moxe plays as a leader in healthcare data exchange,” Chelsea says.
“It’s an exciting time to be part of the team,” she says. “In thinking about how we can maximize our impact, there’s an opportunity to both build a foundation of thoughtful product principals and explode off of a strong foundation the team has already established.”
Two “north stars”
During the recent leadership retreat, Chelsea says the teams talked about two “north stars” that should guide how they operate and deliver: P.R.I.C.E. and “Have the conversation.”
P.R.I.C.E. stands for predictability, reliability, increased capacity, confidence, and excellence. “The idea of P.R.I.C.E is not only about how we should operate, but also about pausing to recognize that everything has a price. If we want to grow, we need to think systematically about how we do that. P.R.I.C.E. is about being mindful about the decisions we’re making and how they contribute to our overall strategy and goals. With every action and decision we make, we need to consider: What’s the price? Is it worth it? Is it data-driven?” Chelsea says.
In addition to adopting P.R.I.C.E, Chelsea says the product and engineering teams have agreed on a communication mantra of sorts: “Have the conversation.”
“Don’t let friction, ambiguity, or discomfort keep important topics off the table. When in doubt–with a customer, partners, or internally–have the conversation,” Chelsea says. “When we show up to a meeting with this mindset–that no conversation should be off the table–we often are able to more quickly get to the root of issues or uncover priorities that are more pressing for our customers.”
Roadmap priorities for payers
When thinking about the roadmap for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, Chelsea says she is excited about the transformative potential of two payer-focused priorities:
Roadmap priorities for providers
When it comes to the provider side of the healthcare data exchange equation, Chelsea says Moxe’s product and engineering teams will continue to focus on finding more opportunities to automate and streamline release of information.
“We want to empower providers to do more with less when it comes to data exchange: less bodies, less friction, less back-and-forth, and less things getting lost in the ether. We know that making ROI more automated and seamless has big transformative potential,” she says.
Where the map leads
When she thinks ahead to the next 12-18 months, Chelsea says that in addition to having the HEDIS supplemental data solution and more enterprise EHR offerings out in the market, she hopes our product and engineering teams are a little bit louder about the great work they’re doing and have been doing for a long time.
“We’re a Best in KLAS solution. I hope the product and engineering teams will be able to increasingly organically tell the story about the product they’ve built and be recognized as the true experts that they are,” she says.
